The Italian Investor Visa, also referred to as Italy’s Golden Visa, is one of the most underrated programs of its kind. Established in 2017, the program has played second fiddle to Portugal, Spain and Greece (all of whom offered Golden Visas for property investment).

But with Portugal removing their property option, and the Spanish program being terminated in early 2025, the stage is finally set for Italy’s Investor Visa to step into the limelight.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Andre Bothma is a seasoned digital entrepreneur specializing in European Residency By Investment programs (and the Italian Investor Visa, in particular).

After graduating from Rhodes University in 2002, he spent two decades building a career in digital marketing.

In addition to working for several prominent tech startups including MXit, Africa’s pre-Whatsapp chat app, he also previously served as national marketing director for the official political opposition in South Africa.

Given the challenges faced by the Portuguese Golden Program in recent years, many North American Plan B seekers have started looking at alternative European Golden Visa options.

And, going into 2025, the Italian Investor Visa is arguably the most underrated program of its kind.

With these factors in mind, Andre launched GoldenVisas.it with a view to give foreign Plan B investors access to the information and opportunities they need to secure their Italian back-up plan – discretely, securely, and hassle-free.

Andre is a prolific writer on investment migration, and has been advising an international client base on their European Residency and Citizenship By Investment options since 2017. He splits his time between Porto, Cape Town, and increasingly, Milan.

Marco Mesina is a prominent Italian tax lawyer based in Milan.

Quoted on tax matters by Forbes, Marco and his firm assists high-net-worth individuals and families with their transition to Italy from a tax and legal perspective.

His professional background includes successfully guiding affluent individuals through relocation under specialized tax regimes designed for HNW and UHNW individuals.

He has successfully helped numerous of our clients to take advantage of the Italian Flat Tax Program, and is an expert on the process of submitting advanced tax filings in Italy.

Additionally, he can assist high net worth and ultra high net worth clients with inheritance planning and seamless wealth management, ensuring smooth transitions across generations.

Nicolò has extensive experience in tax preparation and advisory for clients doing business within the Italian jurisdiction, including in specialized areas such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and real estate acquisition deals.

His main focus at the moment is tax compliance and advisory for individuals and entities based in Italy or offshore wishing to invest and acquire assets located in Italy.

He is also involved in the onboarding of foreign residents in Italy, and serves in an advisory capacity to a number of innovative Italian startups.

Nicolò holds an MBA from Troy University, as well as a Master of Accounting at the Università degli studi di Parma.

He is fluent in Italian, English, and French.
